About
Reviving Nepalese art & culture through computer technology
Active since the early millennium, animator brothers Sanyukta and Niyukta Shrestha's passion for defining Nepalese animation style resulted in yantrakala, literally meaning machine art in Sanskrit. Since its establishment in September 2007, yantrakala has been focussed in research and development of authentic Nepalese art using computer technology.
While most of yantrakala's in-house projects are managed mainly from London, it's Nepal Office is dedicated to commercial multimedia and video production that meets international standard. More than just a company, yantrakala is a movement.
DEVELOPMENT
The products of yantrakala aim to be informative and entertaining. They are always based on in-depth research, and exhibit creative qualities and technical expertise. yantrakala aims at educating about Nepalese history, culture and tradition through entertaining and creative animated features. So far, it has released a short animated film titled ‘Leaving the Village’, beta version of a Paubha visualization system called ‘PauViz’ and a Nepal script trainer called Aakhah Mhasikaa. Presently, yantrakala’s most ambitious project ‘Prachin Nepal’ is in research phase. Meanwhile, the creative team is also working on a children’s adventure series ‘Ramailo Nepal’.
