Prachin Nepal

Motivation
With a rich cultural heritage that can be traced back to at least 300 BC, Kathmandu city was a virgin land to the western explorers until just a few decades ago. While it took two millennia for the Newa community to find a unique cultural definition for themselves, Kathmandu valley could not withstand a strong wave at the cost of its identity. Industrial and technological influx, also brought with it what is today a whole-heartedly accepted western culture. The remaining tradition now bears very less of originality.
The country is entering a new political scene. Every community is expected to gear up for rebuilding the nation and there is no reason for yantrakala to step back. Considering it as the right time, yantrakala has initiated what it was formed for. It is working towards a message for all Nepali people that it is not necessary to loose everything we have in trying to get something we don't have. We can still be ourselves in being as good as others. Our cultural heritage is just not worth being left to die out.
'Prachin Nepal' is not a Nepali cultural show designed to attract tourists because for a culture to survive, practice is essential and not appreciation alone. It is firstly for Nepali people to let them have a look at themselves in a way they haven't done for a long time. Only then it is for rest of the world to find out what Nepali culture is. If the Nepali domain continues with moving away from itself, 'Prachin Nepal' will be showing what we are not; It will not be a show, it will be a big lie.
