Synopsis
Short animation film 'Leaving The Village' is based on the story of a mother and her child who lived a very happy life in a remote village of Nepal. Never had they imagined, what awaited them would change their lives for ever...
For more than a decade, the conflict between government, political parties and the rebels has ended the lives of thousands of Nepali people so far. Once the messenger of peace for the rest of the world, the Himalayan country is now engulfed by its own unfortunate shadow of domestic violence.
This film is dedicated to the innocent people of Nepal who lost their lives or their loved ones due to domestic violence, with a wish that the Himalayan country gains back its age-old heritage of peace and harmony soon and forever.
Motivation
As everything else is overshadowed by political unrest in the country, economical and industrial growth has been an abandoned issue for far too long. While Nepali film-makers themselves are trying to make a mark in the international arena, Nepali animation is still in its early infancy. 'Leaving The Village' is one of the first of such attempts to place Nepali art in animation platform.
Ever-fascinated with the concept of digitally replicating the country's astounding natural heritage, it is a sincere attempt in its most simplest form by Sanyukta and Niyukta at yantrakala. It also marks a dark chapter in the history of Nepal unforgettable to those who are aware of it.
